Making Our Presence Known Locally District Assemblies of Jehovah's Witnesses are held annually at the Cow Palace on Geneva Avenue in Daly City (just outside San Francisco). For the last two years, we have been making our presence known by parking our vehicles across the street from the Cow Palace with signs advertising our support group, complete with telephone numbers and our web site URL.
We have chosen to stand opposite the assembly rather than a more direct "in-your-face" approach. Nevertheless, we receive reactions from attendees entering the assembly grounds in the mornings, as well as those walking past us on the opposite side of the street during the lunch break on their way to the corner McDonald's, ranging from disgust and outrage to downright comical. We are getting attention, though. It has been reported to us by assembly attendees that announcements have been made at the assemblies about the "presence of homosexual apostates", giving us additional publicity and exposure!
Several times, we have been approached by Witnesses attending the assembly, in at least a couple of instances engaging us in lengthy conversation. Most importantly, we have been receiving telephone calls from individuals in desparate need of support.
