A Common Bond is the worldwide support network for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals who were, or still are, associated with Jehovah's Witnesses.
We began in 1980 as a simple mimeographed newsletter, and have since grown into a worldwide network with local chapters and annual international conferences. The mission of A Common Bond is to provide support and comfort to individuals whose sexual orientation is in direct conflict with Jehovah's Witnesses anti-gay teachings. We are here to be your friends and offer you our support and comfort, because we all have shared the experience of being gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Jehovah's Witnesses -- our Common Bond.
It is not the purpose of A Common Bond to retaliate against the Watchtower organization, although we do recognize that we are called such things as "an abomination", "abhorrent", etc. in their literature, and we know that many of you are now shunned by your families and Witness friends. Our basic purpose is to help guide you to a life of genuine happiness, self-confidence, and self-acceptance beyond your involvement in the Organization.
We invite you to join one of our local chapters, write, or meet us individually, or join our ACB Forum. We welcome correspondence from everywhere, and look forward to hearing from you!
There are new and exciting things happening. Please check out our Articles section for new announcements and information.

Our Mission Statement
A Common Bond is the international support network of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals whose common bond is that we are now, or have been, associated with Jehovah's Witnesses. Our purpose is to give support to one another by sharing our experiences, giving and receiving encouragement and hope to others whose lives have been impacted by their sexual orientation and association with the Watchtower organization.
As a group, we are not associated in any way with any organized religion. Our members are free to choose their own spiritual path, or none at all without condemnation. Our ultimate goal is to assist our members in finding genuine happiness and self esteem.
How YOU Can Help
Of course, we won't get everything right straight (or gay) away. Our site is a continuous work in progress, and there are a number of other improvements on the way. We always welcome suggestions, comments and questions. If you're having problems viewing the site, have any questions or suggestions of what you'd like to see, please let us know.
We are also looking for volunteers who can help us translating the site. We need people who can help translating web pages into French. We hope you enjoy our new website as much as we did creating it. We also hope you use our network for your support.

A Common Bond in the Media
We are very pleased that the news media has taken notice of A Common Bond and the work we are doing in offering support to gay & lesbian former and current Jehovah's Witnesses. |
Do We "Bash" the Jehovah's Witnesses?
As one might expect, this website is not looked upon favorably by the Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) religion. Its membership is taught that homosexuality is "a sin", "an abomination", "detestable", and various other assorted words synonymous with evil. These teachings are based on certain cited passages in the Bible that the JWs are taught condemn homosexuality. |

Pride Events 2007
In the years 1998, 1999, and 2000, a contingent from A Common Bond has marched in the San Francisco Pride Parade, much to the delight of approximately one million onlookers annually lining both sides of Market Street. We were also televised on San Francisco's TV-20, giving us exposure to hundreds of thousands of additional viewers. |
Our Coming Out Stories
In the years since A Common Bond was founded, we have learned that each one of our members has their own unique story to tell about their experiences as a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. We have posted stories of some of our members in hopes that you will find encouragement, hope, and most importantly, the knowledge that you are not alone. |

The Watchtower Tries to Silence Us... and fails!!
On Friday, July 24, 1998, our group's web site was blocked access by Geocities, where this site was formerly located. This was done without any prior notification. |
Making Our Presence Known Locally
District Assemblies of Jehovah's Witnesses are held annually at the Cow Palace on Geneva Avenue in Daly City (just outside San Francisco). For the last two years, we have been making our presence known by parking our vehicles across the street from the Cow Palace with signs advertising our support group, complete with telephone numbers and our web site URL. |
